1. Div. (Greve svømmehal) GI40/Hermes, Swim Team Midtjylland 1, Gladsaxe, Køge, Silkeborg, Triton, Elite Svøm Esbjerg 2, GTI og Helsingør.

Am I taking my teeny wee team to DM-H? You betcha, and we will have a helluva good time at it. We have trained for it, built for it, made a video for the team, the whole nine yards. We don't need the press from it, nor to be able to take it to our sponsors, nor as a team builder. We are going for the joy of racing one event after the other and seeing how tough we are in that pool
In the end, that is the only reason to race, for the love and joy of it, to feel the water against you and the roar of your blood pounding in your ears as you come off a turn.
And I really hope everyone going this year has a great weekend. Citater
Because we do not have a genuine competition (example: 6-8 one-day local events and one final like Stefan proposes) this will have to do to show the community which standing we have in the national swimming community.
So in lack of a better concept we (in Køge) most certainly need this competition in order to show our community what our club level is. No other competition can show this to people outside swimming ("We got 15 medals at DM" gives them notinh to compare with and tells no story).
I hope this clarifies. I would prefer more one-day competitions during the year to determine the outcome but I have tried to suggest it without any luck.

I must admit, though, with the change in event program, it will be vastly more interesting to see exactly how clubs in various divisions stack up against each other.
Agree to disagree. You will not convince me and I will not convince you
It doesn´t seem like you have attended this competition before, and experienced the atmosphere that is created around the pool - it´s AWESOME!
Fact is, this competition produces MORE PBs, than any other competition in Denmark - and under the toughest conditions. (9races in 4×2hours)
And im not just talking about age groupers, no.. ALL, even international swimmers performs extraordinary at this,
Plus, the swimmers loves it - it brings teams together, and lifts the group as a whole.
Do you really need any other reason than that? You are talking about recovery, sure.. Meanwhile, it´s time for war!!
Good luck! Citater
If a club needs an event like DM-H to build good will in a community, get decent press, team spirit, commitment to excellence, well… really, there are better ways to get that done.
By the way, I am wearing a viking cap and have my megaphone charged up and ready to go for this weekend. It auto plays a football cheer. And the iced teas I have chilling are Long Island Iced Teas. My cheering squad (the boys at least) are coming as princesses and the girls are fairies or something. We are taking a team bus and will have fun pretending we are a football club
This is absolutely one point where we just have to smile at each other and change the subject

RIGHT because:
- The competition in itself is completely worthless from a swimming point of view, agreed. Too many races in a short time, possibility to "bring in" older swimmers, etc.
- For many clubs it is not even remotely a precise picture of the strength of the everyday training system, agreed.
- The only thing we officially compete for is the right to do it again next year and the bragging rights until then, agreed…
WRONG because:
- The competition is also a way of uniting the team and getting them to DELIVER together - as they are supposed to do in training together every other day of the year. In that respect I use the competition to spot the future talents for my team (we have several swimmers from the B-team on our DHM-team) - if you cannot deliver for the team in the spotlight chances are you will not deliver a wholehearted effort in training in february when is is cold and rainy. And we need everybody to deliver in february when it is cold and rainy…
- To our local community and the goodwill we receive both in the press, the municipality and amongst the corporations and small businesses, it is extremely important where we are placed, because: Everybody can understand "the best league" but almost no-one can understand "national junior short course champion" or "european junior championship qualifier".
- The swimmers think it is enormous fun and they swim really, really fast. That to me is as good a reason as anything else to have the meet…
